This sounds like a dare

How do you keep your yarn wrangling organised? It seems like an easy to answer question at first, but in fact organisation exists on many levels. Maybe you are truly not organised at all, in which case I am personally daring you to try and photograph your stash in whatever locations you can find the individual skeins. However, if you are organised, blog about an aspect of that organisation process, whether that be a particularly neat and tidy knitting bag, a decorative display of your crochet hooks, your organised stash or your project and stash pages on Ravelry.

Calling me out on my organizational skills, are we?

Well, you might be right to do so. My organization is somewhat, well, organic, but I do know where pretty much everything is. I have one bookshelf full of yarn; it’s one of those cubby-hole bookshelf, so within each cubby, the yarns are arranged by color. All of my mostly green yarns in one cubby, mostly blue in another, purple, red, black/neutral, yellow—that’s my organization for single or pairs of skeins. Variegated yarns and already wound but not yet used yarns are on a couple of shelves. I have fabric bins that fit into my cubbies, that’s where the sweater quantities of yarn lives (along with a few single skeins). Then there’s an ottoman “bench” filled with random yarns. And then there’s the recent acquisitions that haven’t made it into the organizational scheme yet.

Now you maybe understand why I’m trying to knit from stash and not buy yarn this year. I will update this post with a photo or two later (if I remember to take them), but I also want to post about my socks later today, so I’m posting this now to avoid back-to-back within the hour posts. Because that would just be silly.
